WSU Pullman’s LGBTQ+ Center is turning 30!
Help us celebrate and build capacity to serve queer Cougs for the next 30 years.
Looking to the future
Over the years, demand for resources and trainings and the size of the student population the Center serves has grown past the Center’s current capacity. As we celebrate all the successes the Center has had in it’s 30 years, we’re also looking to the LGBTQ+ community of alumni, staff, faculty and community members to support the Center’s capacity building so it can continue to serve all queer Cougs.
During this fall’s Q*hort Welcome Event saw 90 first-year students were in attendance! It was so exciting to see so many new Cougs proud in their identities and looking to build community, but also a great example of the increased need for the Center’s services in today’s student body.
How you can help
To meet current demand for services, the Center needs to increase its general operations funding. This funding supports student outreach programs, professional and student staff, professional development and so much more.
Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Center with us by joining our monthly recurring giving program. Monthly, recurring gifts are essential for building financial sustainability and allow the Center to better allocate funding across the year as they have a predictable revenue source.
Th program has three levels of giving and fun engagement and swag opportunities as part of recognizing your generosity. While these gift amounts are a reference guide, we are grateful for any amount you can commit to our monthly giving program.

History and Impact of Center
The LGBTQ+ Center (formally GIESORC), serves lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer students, faculty, staff and alumni across the Washington State University system by providing resources, and fostering community building. The Center also promotes academic and personal growth, learning and development for students.
In addition, the Center provides training, consultations, advocacy and coalition building to advance access and equity throughout the WSU system.
What does operational funding provide?
Student outreach programming allows for Cougs to find other LGBTQ students and build community through education outreach, resources, and advocacy.
Increased sustainable funding will allow the Center to recruit and retain talented staff. It is important that there is always student staff available during the week for student drop-ins and peer-to-peer support during crises. Dependable center coverage also allows professional staff to increase the time they dedicate to offering trainings and resources with WSU system staff and faculty to better serve LGBTQ+ people in the WSU community and provide resources that are culturally appropriate and help to break down barriers to success.
Funding for professional development will support opportunities for professional staff and student staff to attend trainings, conferences and more that will keep them up to date on the challenges and barriers this community faces today on university campuses as well as learn best practices for serving LGBTQ+ students in crisis, empowering students to advocate for themselves in their work and academic environments, and identify new resources and opportunities for the LGBTQ+ community.
