GIESORC Scholarship Fund
In 2008, alumnus Bob Dlugosh and his partner Don McKee established the first scholarship specific to the GIESORC Center; the Robert J. Dlugosh and Don N. McKee Endowed Scholarship. This scholarship supports Gay, Lesbian, Transgender and the children of the same.
In response to their generosity (and to some enthusiastic urging from Adopted Cougar Don McKee), additional friends have made gifts to support scholarships in GIESORC. As a result, a second scholarship fund has been established to provide general scholarship support for students involved with GIESORC; The GIESORC Scholarship Fund. A gift of any size will help a student meet the financial challenges of college AND affirm for our students that a community of supporters is behind them. The validation this provides to a student is beyond measure!
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Allies Program Fund
This fund was created several years ago and continues to be the fund that GIESORC leadership uses to provide programming for students as well as respond to student’s emerging needs.
Your gift of any size can make a major difference to the GIESORC center as we try to stretch our budget as far as we can while still providing the quality and quantity of service that is needed.
Programming supported through the fund includes things like bringing speakers to campus, providing informational or educational workshops, and celebrations like Lavender graduation. It is also the fund we use to supply educational materials and training to the campus community.
Emerging Student Needs supported through this fund can vary, but typically includes things like providing a cap and gown for a student who can’t afford rental, or providing book scholarships.
